During the two days preceding the Deputy Prime Minister’s dismissal Donald Tusk had a series of appointments with Citizen Platform’s most prominent politicians: Bronisław Komorowski, Janusz Palikot, Janusz Gowin, Radosław Sikorski, Sebastian Karpiniuk. He polled every one of them about Scetyna’s dismissal. "He wanted to see what the spirits were like and check whether any of them was conspiring with Schetyna. Luckily, it turned out none of them was and Schetyna’s dismissal could be announced," says our source. Another Citizen Platform politician adds “Donald Tusk is very careful and what he did was meant to prevent any rebellions in the party”.

Although there was no revolution in the party, Tusk still had to make some concessions for Schetyna. He forced Tusk’s closest colleagues to get dismissed. Now PO politicians could make up a new interpretation of the whole situation, namely Schetyna’s dismissal had nothing to do with the scandal and was only meant to strengthen the party. Schetyna also forced Tusk to promise he would not entrust anyone with the deputy prime minister’s portfolio.
From what "Wprost" has found, it turns out that Schetyna’s dismissal could be a result of Tusk’s consultation with Jan Krzysztof Bielecki, former Prime Minister and President of Pekao Bank, who had been advising Tusk for a long time to limit Schetyna’s influence. “As for the Gambling Scandal, Schetyna is innocent, but generally it was he who created this atmosphere of business in politics in the party,” he says.
It results from the lobbyists’ conversations published in "Rzeczpospolita" and the correspondence of the Ministry of Interior and Administration that Schetyna did not influence the issue of a tax that the gambling industry opposed.
