The last sitting of the two committees concerned the recent Russian-Belarus manoeuvres. Komorowski admitted that Moscow had cheated on the international organisations by dividing their manoeuvres into two seemingly separate parts: 'Zapad' and 'Łodoga'. The Deputy Minister of Defence says that dividing the manoeuvres was a Russian trick. It was meant to show that their importance was not that big. Trainings in the South of Russia had also taken place.

 
Komorowski also admits that the manoeuvres only technically had a defensive character. "We are concerned that such practices took place – using various forces and components. This shows that a potential danger exists and, what is even worse, that it is being practiced. The fact that those practices technically were meant to have a defensive structure but turned into offensive practices against Poland, Latvia and Estonia shows in which direction this is going," he admits. The Deputy also took stand on the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons. “I will quote the Defence and Safety Secretary who informed that Russia's war doctrine, which will be presented at the end of the year to President Medvedev, will accept the preventive use of nuclear weapons. Moreover, as a result of such practices, the conditions of using nuclear weapons have been corrected not only in a full-scale war but also in regional and even local ones,” stated Komorowski. He also admitted that during the manoeuvres it had been practiced how to repress an uprising by the Polish minority in Belarus. “I am able to confirm that such an assumption has been made, I quote ‘The tensions between the two sides of the conflict were caused by the issues of the national minority occupying the Novogrod Uplands and the eastern areas of the Polesie lowland’. The name of the minority is not mentioned, but we all know who they are talking about. The practices performed by them in the risk of such a situation occurring is very symptomatic and quite disturbing,” he says.

Józef Nasiadka of the general headquarters of the Polish army, who was present at the sitting, confirmed what "Wprost" had published in its latest issue – a landing on a coast imitating the Polish coast had been practiced during the manoeuvres. “A sea landing and defence of a sea landing had taken place on a military training ground in Chmielowka. Please notice that the way the land is formed in that area is the same as the Polish sea coast is formed,” he said.

"Wprost24" reached an interpellation of Karol Karski, also concerning these practices. “Has nuclear weapon been used by the Russian services during any of these manoeuvres or during any other army practices in September 2009? If so, on what scale?,” he asks.
