It is all due to the fact that the government Tu-154 aircraft is in repair and the President does not have a plane to take him to the next week’s 64th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which is going to take place in New York. "If we do not have the Tupolew at our disposal, we will charter a plane or take a regular passenger aircraft. The second option seems more likely at the moment", said Władysław Stasiak, head of the Presidential Chancellery, to “Wprost”.
REKLAMA
The first Polish politician to travel by passenger planes was Donald Tusk. His most famous journey took place in March 2008. The Prime Minister was flying to Washington to meet with then-President, George W. Bush. During the flight somebody called LOT in New York, where Donald Tusk was supposed to land, and said that there was a bomb on board. Luckily, it was only a stupid joke. Since then the head of the government has started to use VIP planes more often.
